Oral Sedation Can Help You Keep Up with Your Oral Health
Posted on 7/10/2019 by Dr. Leo Townsend, DDS
Some people refuse sedation whenever possible just because they're afraid of being knocked out, but it can actually do you a lot of good during your visits with us.
There are many reasons why oral sedation can help you keep up with your oral health. If you're considering saying no the next time you visit us, here are some reasons to say yes.
It Helps with Your Fear of Pain
Some people don't come to see us as often as they should because they're afraid of pain. We completely understand that, and that's why we offer basic oral sedation with many of our procedures. You simply take a pill before the procedure and you feel very little to no pain at all. It's the perfect way to keep up with your oral health and dealing with your fear of pain.
You're Not Completely Unconscious
With oral sedation, you're not fully unconscious. Many of our patients do say they seem to have drifted off to sleep after taking the pill or that they don't really remember the procedure, but it's not like anesthesia. Oral sedation doesn't put you completely out. There are also no IVs or anything else to worry about. You'll simply take a pill and fall into a state of deep relaxation. You may remember everything that's done, but you won't feel any of it.
We Can Do More at Once
Another great benefit of oral sedation is that we can do more procedures and more work during one visit. This often means you don't have to come back for a second procedure, saving you time and money. This is especially good news if you've put off coming in. We'll take care of as much as we can in one session while you relax and don't feel any pain at all.
